Blackhawk partners with Aurus to help increase access to digital payments – Digital Transactions

Blackhawk Network Inc. partners with Aurus Inc., an omnichannel payment platform provider, to increase consumer access to digital payments, such as digital wallets and buy now, pay loans later.

The agreement is expected to provide merchants with a single payment platform that supports a myriad of payment options, including general purpose and private label credit cards, and gift cards, in addition to digital wallets, BNPL cryptocurrency loans and payments, which merchants can leverage to build customer loyalty. Research by Pleasanton, Calif.-based Blackhawk Network finds that providing consumers with easy access to digital and alternative payment methods can increase a shopper’s likelihood of returning by 63%.

“We highly value our relationships with software innovators such as Aurus who are helping grow payments with new ideas and innovative solutions,” said Tristan Roffey, vice president and group leader for Blackhawk Network, in a prepared statement. “We continue to look for ways to grow our innovation and impact in the digital payments space.”

Along with digital wallets, BNPL, credit and gift cards, and crypto payments, Aurus’ platform also supports industry-specific payment options such as fleet supply cardsflexible spending accounts for healthcare purchases, and electronic benefit transfers for food stamps and cash benefits.

“Enterprises are striving to enable and accelerate unified commerce payments globally, and our partnership with Blackhawk furthers those capabilities,” Aurus Chief Executive Officer Rahul Mutha said in a statement. Aurus is based in Norwood, Mass.

The deal builds on Blackhawk Network’s partnership earlier this month with provider BNPL Klarna AB to offer in-store BNPL loans for items such as groceries, beauty electronics and more when shopping within the Blackhawk merchant network.
