Matas builds customer loyalty with Matas Plus,

Health and beauty retailer Matas already manages one of the most successful customer clubs in Denmark, club Matas, with 1.7 million members. Club Matas Plus was launched in January 2021, as a complement to the existing free customer club – or as another sister of the family, as Matas likes to say. Club Matas Plus is a subscription service, with benefits such as triple points on every purchase, free deliveries from matas.dk and a special monthly offer, only available to Club Matas Plus members. The monthly fee is DKK 29, with a 30-day free trial and no binding period. Customers can register online, but most new members are recruited from the 264 Matas stores.

30-day onboarding flow increase conversions

“Getting in-store customers to sign up for the free in-store trial is working really well. Our main challenge is to encourage people to finalize the process online and to continue as a member of Club Matas Plus beyond the 30 days ”, explains Julie Marie Hauerberg, responsible for the subscription and loyalty program for the Club Matas.

To achieve this, Matas uses communication flows created in Agillic to remind customers to complete the process, show any perks they have already received, and offer special offers as an added incentive. After the first welcome email and / or SMS, Matas communicates regularly with the new member during the first month, from a free points offer after seven days and a “money saved so far” account halfway through , until a last chance free product offer at the end of the free trial.

Make good customers even better

Since the start in January, 37,000 Club Matas members have already switched to Club Matas Plus, and analysis shows that the objective of recruiting the best Matas customers has been achieved. Not only that, but the numbers also show that membership in Club Matas Plus makes good customers even better. On average, members increased the amount of their purchases by 13% and the number of purchases by 21%.
